Meet Andrew
Andrew Scott is a Toronto-based compositing supervisor, visual effects artist, and creative lead with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University. Drawn to filmmaking from an early age, he developed a fascination with the craft behind the camera — the intersection of cinematography, visual effects, technology, and storytelling that allows worlds and ideas to be transformed on screen. His work is driven by a passion for blending artistic vision with technical problem-solving to help bring ambitious stories to life.
My Career
Since entering the industry in 2012, Andrew has built his career through a combination of artistry, technical expertise, and leadership. After starting in corporate video editing and motion graphics, he transitioned into visual effects as a compositor at Master Key VFX, contributing to series including Scandal, Justified, Covert Affairs, and Suits. Since joining SpinVFX in 2015, he has grown from Intermediate Compositor to Head of Compositing, leading teams of up to 50 artists while remaining closely involved in the creative and technical execution of projects. His credits include The Expanse, Stranger Things, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and The Umbrella Academy.
My Life
Outside of visual effects, Andrew’s creative interests extend into photography, filmmaking, music, cycling, travel, and the outdoors. A lifelong camper and avid cyclist, he’s drawn to pursuits that combine exploration, craftsmanship, and personal expression — whether behind a camera, on a trail, or playing trombone in a jazz band. Today, many of those same passions are ones he enjoys sharing with his young daughter.
